Dating is one of the most exciting phases of having a romantic relationship. It is the stage where you step your best foot forward to impress the other person. It is typically a form of courtship and may include some social activities to finally get to know each other better and consider each as a possible partner to have an intimate relationship with or lucky enough to have him or her as your spouse.

Traditionally, dating is an act of meeting or engaging to some social activities like going out to see a movie or talk things over dinner. A date can be arranged by a third person, friend or even a family member. But with the onset of Internet, dating has been a quick and easy activity.

A lot of dating websites swarm the Internet where people can visit and search for someone they can meet become friends and when things work out fine, they can build a relationship that is for life. Online dating has proven to be successful in pairing up people and see them get in love and even get married eventually. On the other hand, not all who participated in this kind of social activity end up finding the love of their lives, rather they can build friendships or may continue to do their search for the one.

But online dating is not as simple and convenient as you think. People are not always honest about themselves and tend to put up faces just to create a good impact. If you consider and have plans of participating in online dating, make sure to take some precautionary measures in order for you to be safe. There are certain online dating rules that you should take heed as you go out there.

  1. When creating a profile on a dating site, make sure to make it factual and truthful. State your real age and other information regarding yourself.
  2. When posting a photo, select a photo that does not show any recognizable landmarks. Guard your safety first and better put a picture taken in a studio with plain background.
  3. Initially, any communication between you and your date should remain within the site first. It is not advisable that you give right away your email address or instant messenger name unless you feel comfortable with one another.
  4. If you come to a point that it is necessary to see face to face, choose a public place where you can meet. Again, your safety is your top most priority in this situation.
  5. When you meet, be prepared to have some money to pay for your own meal unless your date says so.
  6. Relax and seize the moment. It is important to be casual during your meeting and enjoy every moment of it.
  7. Be polite as you end your date. Be thankful for the time spent and the chance of meeting a new friend. And if everything works out just fine, you are sure that the next meeting is happening so soon.

Bear in mind that it’s not exchange of enticing emails and chats that counts in online dating it the truthfulness and sincerity of the words sheered of both parties. So before seeing yourself in the spell of mimic love, rule these online dating rules and be guided.
