Steve Steinbeiss vs Rob Kimmons
Early in the first round, Kimmons went right away and initiated the clinch. The clinch battle between Kimmons and Steinbeiss was evenly matched. The whole first round was a back and forth clinch battle. Both fighters did damage but it seemed Steinbeiss did a little more, and in my opinion is enough for Steinbeiss to win the 1st round.
Second round, Kimmons immediately attempted to take his opponent down, but Steinbeiss showed his good take-down defense keeping the fight standing up. Steinbeiss appeared to be a lot better than Kimmons in a stand up battle. But the highlight of the second round is when Kimmons got a double leg and slammed his opponent down, forcing Steinbeiss to fight off his back for the remaining 60 seconds.
Third round is a little different for Steinbeiss and Kimmons as both attempted to submit each other and both fought for a better position on the ground. In the latter part of this round Kimmons pounded and dominated his opponent on the ground. – Kimmons won via unanimous decision.
Charles Oliveira vs Darren Elkins
Early in the first round, both fighters are just trying to measure each other although Elkins set the pace by striking more and also missing more combos. Elkins attempted a double leg take-down and was successful doing it. However, immediately after that, Oleivera went for a triangle choke, arm-bar and controlled Elkins’ right leg at the same time showing how incredible his jiu-jitsu is. Oleivera switched to a full armbar and stretched Elkins’ arm forcing him to tap. Oliveira won via submission.
Mike Massenzio vs Brian Stann
The returning referee John McCarthy is the referee for this contest. Stann kicked his opponent but got caught resulting to being taken down by Massenzio. They got back up, but Stann was taken down again because of another caught kick. In the middle of this round, Stann was caught in a deep guillotine but managed to get out of the threat. At the start of the second round, Massenzio immediately took Stann down. As both fighters were battling for position, Massenzio again attempted for a guillotine choke but weren’t successful. In the last minutes of this round, Stann managed to be on top of his opponent but haven’t done much damage to win him. Early in the third round, Massenzio again tried to take Stann down for the second time but again to no avail. Back on their feet, Stann rocked Massenzio with a huge shot, but the wobbly Massenzio took Stann down to recover from a devastating blow. Knowing that Massenzio was hurt, Stann attempted a triangle but wasn’t successful. They both got up but Massenzio again immediately took Stann down. However, Stann saw an opening and again attempted for a triangle, but this time, the triangle was sinked really tight and forces Massenzio to tap. Stann won via submmision.
