Heatwave in Moscow has begun. It has been one of the most talked about global news today. It has been very alarming for most of the people living in Moscow. Moscow has been known for its extreme winter or cold season and it has never experienced such weather until now. Most of the people in Moscow are not prepared and knowledgeable on how they can endure such heat and smog problems. Due to lack of information on the said situation, people of Moscow cannot help worrying about what’s going to happen next.
Since Moscow is now experiencing the effect of global warming, there has a recommendation given by the Russia’s top doctor to lessen the heat feeling. People of Moscow were advised to hang wet sheets at the windows in order to block the smoke from coming inside the house. But to the dismay of the people, the said recommendation just makes it worst. Since people in Moscow are starting to lose hope in getting relief from the situation, another doctor has advised them to do one thing that can make the situation a bit lighter. He advised them to not worry so much about how it is going to end or until when can they endure the rage of global warming.
Most of the people in Moscow are complaining and whining about the difficult situation and very hot weather. There are some reports of people who cannot swim even if they are on the beach due to hot water. Moreover, some people are walking around the town without wearing t-shirts. Most of the electronic stores are running out of electric fans and air-conditioners. Restaurants and cafeterias also cannot supply much needed ice and cold drinks because of too much heat.
It is clearly evident that Moscow is not equipped with devices that can neutralize the heatwave. Most of the apartments and houses have no proper ventilation and are made of concrete walls that tend to keep the room or the place warm. Also, air-conditioners are rarely installed to establishments and homes. Since people in Moscow are used to having cold weather it is easier for their body system to adapt to extreme coldness rather that extreme heat. The longer they experience higher temperature the longer their body and minds suffer. The continuous drought that’s happening in Moscow also affects most of their crops destroying crop area of almost the size of Portugal.
The authorities and government in Moscow is well-aware of the situation, thus, President Dmitry Medvedev and other leaders apparently announced the public that they are not resting nor ignoring the situation. In fact, they are doing the very best they can to appease the situation. However, people’s fear and concern on the current issue cannot be subdued as the heat they are experiencing is close to unbearable. In the midst of the Moscow people’s agony, the only thing that is giving light to the situation is the hope that there could always be a solution to any problem.
