Manny Pacquiao-Floyd Mayweather, Again Not Going to Happen in 2010

Pacquiao vs Mayweather is a fight that every boxing fan wants. Many believes that if this fight happens it will have a great potential in breaking all revenue records in the history of boxing. The Mayweather Pacquiao super-fight was supposed to happen March 2009, but Pacquiao and his team did not totally agree on the special terms of Mayweather. Mayweather wanted an Olympic style blood testing which means unlike the urine test of Nevada State Athletic Commission, Olympic style includes blood. The reason why Pcquiao told the reporters that he did not want this kind of test because when he fought Morales for the first time, he felt weaker because of the blood taken out of him. So because the NSAC only requires fighters to have urine tests that was already proven to detect any kind of performance enhancing drugs, Pacquiao didn’t feel obligated to agree on what Mayweather is demanding. This is the main reason why that fight did not happen last year. Pacquiao ended up fighting JoshuaClottey while Mayweather fought Shane Moseley. Manny and Floyd won their fights both via unanimous decision last year leading to a potential super-fight between the two in 2010. Since then, this has always been the topic and headline in boxing news.

Early 2010, Top Rank promoter Bob Arum announced that the Floyd Mayweather Manny Pacquiao fight has a huge possibility to happen for Pacquiao and his team have already agreed on all the terms of Mayweather including the Olympic-style drug testing. Bob Arum announced that it is all up to Mayweather for the fight to happen. “Pacquiao is ALL IN and he’s agreed to what they are demanding. If Mayweather wants to fight in November, I believe the fight will be made” Bob Arum stated. However, Mayweather and his camp have not signed anything yet to make this fight happen. Arum says that Floyd also has not decided yet whether he wants to fight in 2010 or not. Of course the promoters will not wait forever and that is why Bob Arum had given Floyd a deadline up to midnight July 16 in deciding weather to fight Manny or not or else they’ll be switching to fighting either Margarito or Cotto.

It was 3:00 in the morning when Bob Arum announced the bad news. The Top Rank promoter/ chairman called a news conference at 3 AM to tell boxing fans around the world that there was no deal for Pacquiao and Mayweather………. YET. Disappointingly, if there is still going to be one, it is not going to happen this year. The deadline Arum gave Floyd for deciding for November 13 fight against Pacquiao passed without any word from Floyd’s camp or any of his representatives assuming that they’ve turned down the expected biggest fight of the decade. This is the reason why Pacquiao is stucked in fighting either Cotto or Margarito.

This is one of the most disappointing year for boxing fans. Nobody wants to see Pacquiao against Cotto nor Margarito, even grandmoms are rooting for Pacquiao Mayweather. As we all can see here, Manny Pacquiao has already given everything to make this fight happen. He agreed for a 50/50 deal, unnecessary Olympic-type drug testing and everything that Mayweather is and was asking for. But what did Mayweather do? He’s not signing any papers for what reason? If he is not scared fighting Pacquiao, then there is no reason to back-down. He always brag about being the best of all time and he’s going to “whoop” Pacquiao’s ass, maybe it’s now time for him to back all those up. This fight is never gonna happen, not unless Mayweather steps up and be the man like he always says he is. Well, what I am certain about is, this is going to affect the boxing world by giving consecutive unwanted matches.
