Top 5 Guy Movies of All Time

Complex Man Mag decided to come up with a list of the top  Guy Movies of all time.  Yes… forget all that chick flick stuff… today it’s all about the fellas so let’s get it cracking with #5.

#5.  The Mack

The Mack comes in at #5.  It was hard because I’m a fan of ‘Superfly’ too, but Richard Pryor also stars in ‘The Mack’ so that was the deciding factor for me.

#4.  Thief

‘Thief’, starring James Caan and Tuesday Weld is one of my all time favorite films.  Caan plays a jewel thief chasing his dreams of the perfect family life, who gets tricked into working for the wrong guy, while trying to get back the past 15 years he spent in prison for petty theft.

Favorite Quote – Jimmy Caan to Tuesday Weld: “See I am a straight arrow. I am a true-blue kind of a guy. I’ve been cool. I am now unmarried. So let’s cut the mini-moves and the bs and get on with this big romance!”

#3.  New Jack City

New Jack City is quite possibly the urban equivalent to Scarface. Starring Wesley Snipes, Allen Payne, Ice T, Michale MIchelle, Vanessa Williams and Judd Hirsch. They say Wesley Snipes Manager advised him against doing New Jack City, due to the violence, but this movie put him on the map!  The entire movie is a G – how many times has it been emulated in music videos?  Case closed.

Favorite Quote (that I can post on this site): Am I my brother’s keeper? Yes I am!

#2.  Casino

Casino, starring Al Pacino, Sharon Stone and Joe Pesci. Jealousy, envy, deceit, lust, greed and love are just a few of the emotions viewers go through whenever watching Casino.  Casino is the epitome of a Martin Scorsese gangsta flick!  Once again, a toss up between Casino and ‘Goodfellas’, but Sharon Stone upped the anty and Casino comes in at #2 for us.

Favorite Quote: Too graphic to post on this site…

#1.  Scarface

Scarface... enough said.  Starring Al Pacino,  Steven Bauer and a then unknown Michelle Pfeiffer. Scarface was a movie made before it’s time.  What wasn’t much of a box office draw back in the 1983 when it was released, has been recognized as one of the greatest gangster movies ever made.  However, Scarface is not a gangster flick… it’s a story about the American Dream… the little guy who comes from nothing and became ‘something’… it’s also a love story… and a story about love lost… one of the greatest guy movies of all time!

Favorite Quote – Too many to list, but I’ll settle for this one… :“In this country, you gotta make the money first. Then when you get the money, you get the power. Then when you get the power, then you get the women.”
