iPhone 4 – Is It Worth All The Hype?

The newest Apple iPhone has just been released to the market.  It has been hyped up and it seems like its is better looking and feature packed than its predecessors. It can be considered as a new phone and not just a repackaged version of the older 3G iPhones as everyone thought it will be.  Apple it seems worked on the design and technology of the new phone in order to make it more attractive to a wider audience. And for many iPhone enthusiasts, they seem to have done a good job. and it is deemed that the apple iPhone 4 could be the highest selling Apple product ever!

But what makes the iPhone special? isn’t it just some hyped up apple phone? Perhaps, let’s take a good look at the newest iPhone in order to truly assess the phones specialness.

iPhone 4 Features

The iPhone 4 has a 3.5 inch display screen and has a resolution of 960×640 pixels, around 4 times as much as the pixels from previous iPhone versions. This is actually the highest resolution for any smart phone available in the market these days, garnering over a 100,000 pixels per square inch.

The phone’s stylish look and design looks equally cool as the features built in on it.  Physically the iPhone 4 is a small only about 9.3mm although it packs a whopper at 16 or 32 GB.  It has a cool interface, much like it predecessors but it is sleeker and is available in two colors, black and white.

Camera

The iPhone 4 now also boasts of video calling capabilities with its front facing camera allowing two iPhone 4 users to see each other during a call.  The back camera is a 5 Megapixel camera that comes with a led flash for excellent pictures. Aside from that, the camera also comes equipped with geo-tagging and touch-to-focus features.  The camera also doubles as a video recorder that can capture at 720p and 30 frames per second and with the iMovie application bundled with the phone, you can edit and create your own home movies right on the phone. Of course there are still a lot of other phones that offer greater cameras but this camera is a big improvement from the previous version of the iPhone.

iOS4

iPhone also comes with its own operating system, the iOS4 and it allows for multitasking over the phone.  You can move applications into separate folders and the voice activated commands offer greater control over the phone. It has a unified inbox for you to store all your messages, easily accessible in a single place.  it also comes equipped with the Safari (Apple’s own web browser) so you can easily navigate the web.

Some additional features include 3D movement controlled gaming, if you love video games, then this app is for you.  You can read your e-books through iBooks, just like the one featured on iPad.  And of course, it comes integrated with iTunes for your favorite video and music downloads but of course with an improved format, playing your songs a lot better.

Battery Life

iPhone 4 has an improved battery life when you compare it to the previous 3G iphones. It is said that the iPhone 4 batteries lasted at least 40% longer than its previous counterparts.

Other Features

A-GPS, digital compass and maps are also integrated within the iPhone, making it a valuable ally when you are going about.

Some Issues

Well with all these features, one might be bound to say, “it’s too good to be true,” perhaps it is since the iPhone 4 is not without its problems.  But the main concern of many of its users have been the dropped calls and no signal in certain areas where there should be a strong coverage, an issue they seem to have corrected with the introduction of a casing that will help boost the phone’s signal.   Another issue that seems to plague the iPhone 4 is the sensitivity of the touch screen. It seems that a call can be halted when you place the phone in your ear, some apps tend to get selected and activated, and as a result either ends or puts the call on hold.

All in all, it seems that Apple has made over a hundred changes to their newest iPhone installment and perhaps all not for the better. But it seems that iPhone enthusiasts are convinced enough to want to upgrade to the newest version and with only a few minor setbacks and concerns, it might also be enough to warrant new users to seek out the newest iPhone release.
