It was on March 26, 3009 that the prototype vehicle was presented at a press conference. Tesla Model S was introduced with its base price of $ 57, 400.00 US dollars. This car has the range of 160 miles (260 km) when fully charge and has a 0 to 6 acceleration for 5.6 seconds. The charging would take about 3 to 5 hours, actually depending on the battery’s capacity. Model S was meant to be a high performance electric sedan, made to compete with cars just like the BMW 5-series. The Model S in fact follows the high performance Tesla Roadster sports car that’s worth $109,000.00. On the first week of its release, Tesla Motors announced 520 reservations for the model, and as of May 17, 2009, there were 1000 reservations according to Tesla Motors.

The base mode of Model S has a 160 miles (260 km) range when entirely charged using 42 kW-h battery packs. A base battery consists of 5,000 lithium-ion cells, while larger battery packs will contain 8,000 cells. There are also longer range batter packs that will be available as well; there were options as 230 miles from a 65 kW-h pack, and even 300 miles (480 km) from an 85 kW-h battery pack. It is also expected that Model S will have a swappable battery available. It is also crafted to plug into almost any outlet, anywhere around the globe. It also has the feature QuickCharge that only lasts 45 minutes and will have this amazing sedan driving smoothly into any destination. Its even, uninterrupted acceleration outshines any other model and is second to none.
