Why He’s A Style Icon

Shawn ‘Jay Z’ Carter is the definition of cool: casual hip hop steez, east coast accent, bad boy good looks shrouded with incredible sense of mystery. He seems like the kind of guy who demanded respect and had his pick of the baddest girls, even back in high school. True to form, Shawn Carter manages to maintain a relatively private personal life to match his dark exterior. However, the 41 year old rapper and music mogul has racked up an impressive list of accomplishments including being one of the owners of the New Jersey Nets, Grammy nominations and launching the careers of artists such as Pop Music’s reigning princess, Rihanna.

All of this, however, hasn’t been enough to satiate Carter’s appetite.  Jay Z recently restarted his interest in investing in Barclays Premier League club Arsenal, along with a line up of new artists he is currently grooming for success on the music charts.

So, Jay Z may have a knack for success and aptitude a lavish lifestyle, but what about style savvy? Just ask Louis Vuitton. The quintessential Italian label graced their Men’s department with his own line of sneakers last year.  Perhaps the most surprising thing about Carter launching his own line of shoes is his recent shout out about ‘Louis Vuitton Boat Shoes’ on his latest hit single, “On To the Next One”. And that’s a great thing, because whether he’s wearing a hoodie or a tuxedo, it’s what makes Carter’s fashion feel accessible.

Dress The Jay Z Way

This guy is a fan of luxury despite being reminiscent of a more round the way steez type.  In recent years, Shawn is at times more partial to suiting up than dressing down. But he does it all with a casualness that is both easy and age appropriate.   When Carter isn’t decked out, his laid-back looks are equally effortless. The archetypal V-neck sweater or an everyday button-down shirt paired with jeans and, of course, his own line of Louis Vuitton sneakers, are the defining elements of his imitable style.
