Is Angelina Jolie Worth Her Salt?

There has been much hoopla about the movie “Salt”, perhaps simply because it’s a movie that stars one of Hollywood’s most controversial and popular actresses Angelina Jolie, but is the movie really worth watching, just to see one half of the “Brangelina” duo do stunts?

The line that separates the hero from the villain always seems to be clear.  Superman is a hero and Lex is the villain.  Spiderman is a hero and Green Goblin is the villain.  It was all quite clear. We are able to connect to the characters and their own flaws as well.  We cheer each hero’s victory and boo the villain’s.  But with Salt, it seems the line got erased somewhere.  It’s hard to decipher whether she is the hero or the villain, you don’t know whether to cheer or boo.  It may not necessarily be bad, but it seems that the logic of this particular plot was lost somewhere, perhaps it’s still in the head of its writer, and it’s not a particularly good place to be in, even for an action film. Let’s explore further.

The movie “Salt” generally revolves around the life of Evelyn Salt (Jolie), who’s a very good CIA agent. She has been trained very well and is an expert at virtually everything, whether it’s martial arts, firing a gun or electronics she is able to handle it all, a one woman killing machine, and in the movie she was accused of being a double agent. But let’s not delve into that lest we spoil your movie going experience.

Moving further, it might be deemed that the movie has a ton of gaping holes that seem to defy logic.  It seems so idiotic to find CIA trained agents to miss a target a mere 7 feet away.  If you will look into the film at face value, you will surmise that the government is filled with bumbling agents who fumble their way through even the simplest tactical actions and completely miss their targets.

Evelyn Salt is as complicated as they come, you really can’t see where she’s coming from.  Her marriage may well be a sham. She may possibly even be a triple agent. Perhaps one thing that no one can argue is that she is quite lethal and Angelina Jolie is as good as they come as well, she was able to pull it off and was able to catch the viewers attention with a .

But Salt has its ups as well. The movie has some respectable fight scenes and it’s not so drawn out, it’s a regular length movie despite all the hype.  And Angelina is indeed a wonderful actress and was able to bring the movie up to a respectable level.  So to answer the query of the title, yes indeed Angelina is definitely worth her salt for being able to pull off a movie and carry her own with arsenal of weaponry and bad guys even with a ridiculously implausible plot.

So, if you are just out for non-stop ninety minute action as well as see the beautiful Angelina Jolie then Salt is indeed a good movie to see. So popcorn action and spy movie fans, you will surely find this movie a very good one.
